Who We Are
The York County Council represents more than 1,200 REALTORS® & Affiliates and is an unincorporated entity of the Maine Association of REALTORS® who is part of the National Association of REALTORS®, the nation’s largest trade association with over 1 million members. The Council abides by the policies and procedures set forth and is governed by and acts in a manner consistent with the Bylaws, Strategic Plan and Public Policy Statement of the Maine Association of REALTORS®. The Council maintains a presence and visibility in the community and continues to advocate for homeownership.

2024 Committees and Task Forces
Communications Committee:
PURPOSE: to assist staff by creating content throughout the year to increase our social media presence that is robust and engages our membership. Also responsible for pictures and descriptions of meetings, events, fundraisers, and sometimes just photo’s fun in nature.
Community Services Committee:
PURPOSE: to support the York County community by identifying a charity and coordinating the support via collections at membership meetings/events.
- Affordable Housing Fundraising Subcommittee:
PURPOSE: to raise funds to support Heating Assistance Program. - Children in Motion Subcommittee:
PURPOSE: to engage with designated York County organizations who handle the needs of children (0-18) who are removed from their homes on an emergency basis, often victims of domestic violence, physical abuse, or who are suffering from mental health issues. The Children in Motion Subcommittee will focus on efforts to provide items that are identified by these organizations to support the needs of the children (i.e., suitcases, backpacks, duffle bags, blankets, pjs, personal hygiene items, gift cards, etc.). - Scholarship Fundraising/Selection Subcommittee:
PURPOSE: to raise funds to support providing scholarships to York County high school seniors and to review and score scholarship applications and then award based on the amount of funds available.
Diversity/Equity/Inclusion and Fair Housing Committee:
PURPOSE: this committee shall follow NAR & MAR guidelines in assessing the council programming and messaging through an equity lens with attention to providing equal professional services as outlined in Article 10 of the NAR Code of Ethics, the Fair Housing Act, and the Maine Human Rights Act. Our goal is to provide DEI and Fair Housing education opportunities and resources to the membership throughout the year with added focus on DB engagement in this area. April is Fair Housing Month.
Holiday Party Committee:
PURPOSE: to research venues, food and beverage options, types of gathering (i.e., plated dinner vs. cocktail social), themes, entertainment, decoration ideas, prizes (i.e., lottery ticket tree, gift card drawing) and income needed to cover expenses via sponsors/registration fees to present to Trustees for approval and ultimately work with AE to organize.
Member Benefits Committee:
PURPOSE: to welcome new members and provide materials that will assist them and to recruit new Affiliate members by creating value, assist with obtaining sponsorships for meetings/events (if needed) and develop an affiliate recognition event in conjunction with a membership meeting/event.
Leadership Search & Recommendation Committee:
PURPOSE: to recommend the following year’s slate of officers & trustees for MAR Board of Directors’ approval, to review overviews and application process.
REALTOR® Safety Committee:
PURPOSE: to provide information to be distributed to our members on the many ways to stay safe. September is REALTOR® Safety Month.
REALTOR® & Affiliate of the Year Selection Committee:
PURPOSE: to choose the current year’s REALTOR® & Affiliate of the Year.
REALTORS® Advocacy and Political Action Committee:
PURPOSE: to encourage the general membership to be aware of and to provide information about housing issues in their cities/towns, so help can be requested from MAR if necessary and to provide information to the membership about the importance of investing in RPAC by sharing political contribution information and how it benefits the membership.
